There is something special about the bond between grandparents and grandchildren. This is especially true with grandmothers. I had the honor of speaking at both of my grandmother’s funerals, officiating one of them, and I will always cherish the moments I spent with them and the memories we made. As I now watch my mother become a grandma, it is a joy to see her investing in my niece and nephews. That’s why I (Theron) am glad she has decided to join me in reviewing and recommending God Gave Me Grandma by Pamela Kennedy.
A Book on Showing Love to Grandchildren
In this children’s board book, Pamela Kennedy writes for children the gift and blessing grandmothers are from God to their grandchildren. She writes in an artistic manner, rhyming as she describes how grandmas love and what they do. From the perspective of a grandma, the illustrations by Xenia Pavlova stood out as they show there are different kinds of grandmas. The animals are different like the nationalities of grandmas throughout the world. This book shows the heart of a grandma toward her grandchildren. A grandma loves and listens to her grandchildren. A grandma is someone who is comforting and someone who makes you feel safe. A grandma does special things. But the most important thing a grandma does is she teaches her grandchildren about Jesus. As she teaches them about God’s love, they can trust in what Grandma is teaching because she loves Jesus and desires to know Him in His Word.
A Perfect Gift from Grandma to Grandkids
God Gave Me Grandma makes the perfect gift for grandmas to give to their grandkids. The gift of a book to grandchildren will help them see the gift a grandma is from God. As they read the book, too, grandchildren will not only hear about a grandmother’s love; they will hear of the love of God.
