Review: EP Study Commentary-Acts

For the pastor or inquisitive layperson, looking for Bible study aids can be quite daunting. Commentaries abound. Yet, what seems to be too often the case is that these commentaries lack good hermeneutics (sadly some are popular) or they may be too technical and too academic. It is actsa rare jewel to find one that has the balance and is faithful to the biblical text. Thanks to EP Books there is now such a commentary. EP Study Commentary: Acts by Guy Prentiss Waters is a wonderful Bible study aid for any pastor who is preparing to teach through the book and for anyone who is wanting to study the book of Acts.

This commentary does not address all points and discussions that could be made from the book of Acts but what it does do is it helps move the pastor or Bible student walk through the text. It is literally a verse-by-verse and passage-by-passage commentary. In other words, it cares about context. It is written in a manner that is understandable to a wide audience. Another great feature of this aid is it provides an application section for each passage examined. At its heart, this Acts commentary is pastoral and points people to life change through the power of the gospel. Case in point, if you are planning on teaching through the book of Acts or simply studying it, please check out this resource.

I received this book for free from EP Books via Cross Focused Reviews for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own and are my honest review of the book.
